Research

We have grouped our research outputs under six topics.

Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Te Tiriti o Waitangi is the foundational constitutional document of Aotearoa New Zealand. The treaty has important content for economics and economic policy.

Wellbeing Economics

The purpose of economics is to expand capabilities for economic, environmental, social and cultural wellbeing. This allows people and places to flourish.

Economic Strategy

To prosper, nations, regions, iwi, industries, communities and enterprises must design effective strategies. This includes careful monitoring and evaluation.

Global Value Chains

New Zealand’s economic prosperity is built on our ability to design global value chains for quality agrifood exports to premium international markets.

Knowledge and Prosperity

Growth in knowledge is the only factor that can sustain growth in living standards. This is a key insight of endogenous growth theory with strong relevance to New Zealand.

Other Research

From time to time we do research that does not fit neatly under the other five headings. An example is our work on the economic value of parks.
